Buying a TV? LCD vs. LED vs. Plasma

This year for Christmas, we are getting a family Christmas present - a new 40'' TV! As we have been shopping, we have had to consider the three different types of HDTVs: LCD, LED, and Plasma. Here are some of the basic differences.

LED
LED TV's are the most energy efficient TVs on the market today. They have the highest brightness level, but are also the most expensive of the three types of HDTVs. An LED TV actually is an LCD TV, just with a different lighting source (LED light source). LED TVs have the highest and most powerful technology of any TV, but is the price worth it?

LCD
The cheapest TVs are almost always the LCD TVs. You can find LCD TVs in any size that you prefer, and they are also very light and not as fragile as other types of TVs. Every TV company sells these types of TVs.
Plasma
Plasma TVs range from 42-65 inches. The phosphors that create the image on the screen light up themselves, and don't require backlighting. Plasma TVs have the best "black level" which implies the best intensity of darker colors and a good brightness level. The viewing angle range is also the best for plasma TVs.

All of these TVs have a relatively good life span, and will last a long time.

Which will you choose?
